1992 Daimler Double Six 5.3
Jaguar Cars introduced the Daimler Double Six in 1972 as the Daimler version of the Jaguar V12 XJ saloon from the original body style designed by Sir William Lyons. The V12 engine was developed continually until the last Series 3 XJ cars were built in 1992 and beyond. A 6.0 version was produced for the X300 saloons 1993 to 1996.
The Daimler Double Six and Jaguar XJ12 were seen in their day as the primary rivals to the Rolls Royce Silver Shadow. The ride quality and smooth silent power of the V12 engine was, and is, considered by some to be better than the Shadow.
The Jaguar V12 engine is described by many engineers as a “hot wet engine,“ and at the end of a journey when emerging from the car you feel that a thoroughbred has transported you.
Like a steam locomotive the engine emits its own aromas of oil and heat which all seem just right.
Our 1992 car is a last of line model, has been in the fleet since 1995 and continues to amaze and delight followers and newcomers to the Daimler Series 3 cars.
This car is finished in distinguished black paintwork and grey leather hide.
The leather trim of any classic car is special, but the maturing smell of this original car is wonderful and the light grey hides compliment the black bodywork so well.
